Mentor

I had an opportunity to refresh my heart that has swayed recently.

Then there was someone popping in my head.

He is Yoshitomo Nara.

He is from Hirosaki city where is the next door to my home-town in Japan.

His artwork is well known to people all over the world. (you'll know when you google his name.)

His characters have not only ordinal pretty looking face but also look angry.

His sentences touch my heart comfortably every time I open his books.

I feel a mysterious connection with him. (without him knowing of course! ;-) ).

When I returned to my parents' house several years ago, I visited Hirosaki for strolling window-shopping, taking a local train for 1 hour or less.

In Hirosaki, I met my friend on the street by accident (what a coincident it was) and she told me there was a private exhibition of Nara at a local sake factory.

I had no reason not to go so I decided to spend some time at the gallery.

Once I saw the character of his, I instantly knew I have seen them before. And was impressed to know the world well known artist was from my next-door.

I remember my heart felt pumped. I didn't wanna leave there as if I would loose the feeling if I did so. (the atmosphere was so comfortable.)

I loved every bits of his artworks. I couldn't see him personally at the event but even if I could, I didn't know what to talk... I can be too shy. ;-)

After the event, the feeling stayed in my hear for a while. Another years later I bought his books (one was Nara note which I introduced before.)

I was attracted to his work even more. I wanted to live in his world. His expression of feeling and thoughts were perfect for me.

When I think about my future with a heart blank, a work of Nara and another artist Jim Houser came out to a head.

I don't have any background in art industry (I'm just a fan of some artists) but it is fascinating me always.

How difficult it is to keep expressing oneself though works without failure? Not many people get fame out of it. Most artists would struggle to get 'there' yet they won't stop making art.

I know the feeling although I haven't even started to get 'there'.

Sometimes it gets praised Sometimes it's treated like a rubbish.

In such times it is important to have a faith in ourselves.

Believe in ourselves. Trust the future. Go! Go!

I want to communicate with the people I admire if I have to.

Thank you, everyone.

Happy birthday, Mr. Christ

I have been fascinated by western culture in past 10 years. But since I made some ends in my heart during holiday in Japan (Say good bye to old me), my interest is more towards Asian modern culture, songs, movies, foods...
I hum Taiwanese songs which I don't understand the meaning of words. This is something what I would have never thought of two months ago.
I want something I can't have so easily. I'm not satisfied with what I have now. I'm greedy in my head. I always feel something missing in life.
Hungry spirit if you wanna call.
I'm always thinking of originality but copies can be made so easily.
With so many numbers of products in the world. I don't know what 'original' is anymore.
JUST GO FORWARD. Christmas won't wait.
My recent favorite book is called 'NARA NOTE' by Yoshitomo Nara. He is one of well-known Japanese artists in the world. Reading books written by artist gives me inspiration.
If you make enough effort toward your goal, it will bring you results. No matter what the result is, the important thing is how you feel and accept it.
Basically I believe, even if we pretend to be something, if we can become them in the end, that's OK. That means we are real something.
It is very wonderful to have the ability that can express oneself as a depicter.
But I feel a limit in my English. I can't express myself enough. It is irritating.
Remember language is not a matter. Feel your heart.

What I really wanted

On my way to work, I listen to music always. My recent favorite is Noriyuki Makihara's album 'Explore'. This morning one of his songs hit my head. He makes really good songs. I love his lyrics in most of his song.

I found my reason why I keep creating stuff in this song.

The original song is written in Japanese but I try to translate.

[What I really wanted]

A while ago I found a very wonderful thing
And was happy
When I looked aside, I noticed there was someone
Then I realized he needs what I found more than I do now
Though I felt precious about it, I decided to put it up

If I keep looking,
I will find something more
He thanked me again and again
He smiled me with full of joy

Later I found a very wonderful thing again
When I looked aside, I noticed there was someone
Then I realized she needs what I found more than I do now
Though I felt precious about it, I decided to put it up

If I keep looking,
I will find something more
I was happy I could see a happy smiley face looking at me

After all I kept doing the same thing over and over
found nothing
When I looked back...

I found so many happy smiley faces
I felt warm inside
Then I realized this is what I was looking for

At last I found what I really wanted
